A federal judge overruled the N. C Board of Elections Thursday and ordered that independent presidential candidate John B. Anderson be given a place on the state General-election ballot Another federal judge rejected Thursday a request by Republican Senate candidate John East for an injunction aimed at forcing the state Board of Elections to alter its placement of races on the general election ballot The Red Cross Bloodmobile is at the Church of the Holy Cross Parish House today from 12:30 to 5:30pm. Be a good Samaritan, the Red Cross suggests, and give blood today. Fall Softball There will be a Fall Softball League at Harmon Field with play beginning tonight. Graduates Airman First Class, Kenneth R Horne, son of Joyce A. Metcalf or Route 3, Campobello. S. C , has graduated from the U. S. Air Force security police specialist course at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Graduates of the course studied security and law enforcement and earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community Colleges of the Air Force. Airman Kenneth will now serve at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington. MONDAY, AUGUST 25.1980 Engaged Miss Jeanne Jackson Mr. and Mrs Nelson Jackson II. Ocean Lakes, Myrtle Beach. S.C. announce the engagement of their daughter, Jeanne Cornelia to Joseph Samson Mize, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. Thomas Mize of Tryon. N. C. Miss Jackson is a graduate of Coastal Academy in Myrtle Beach and Converse College in Spartanburg, S. C. She is the granddaughter of Mrs Nelson Jackson and the late Mr Jackson of Tryon. N. C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. V. F. Platt, Sr of Conway, S. C. Mr Mize is a graduate of Tryon High School and Appalachian University in Boone, N. C. Joe is the grandson of Mrs Jesse Fain of Chattanooga. Tenn, and the late Walter Mize of Tryon, N. C. The wedding is planned for November 15th at the First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach. 12 Pages Today Price 10c Per Cop; Communication August 11,1980 GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL: Hello everyone! I though that I would write to let everyone know that I am alive and doing very well in Brazil, South America! 1 left Polk County on June 14th and flew to Miami, Florida for two days of AFS Orientation. I left Miami International Airport on June 16th. The flight to Brazil was somewhat long, but fun, since there were approximately 150 AFS'ers on board! While in flight, we flew over Jamaica, Columbia and the Andes Mountains — which were covered with snow!! The plane landed in Paraguay, where we left off approximately 35 Paraguay AFS students Then onward to Brazil. We landed in Brazil around midnight in the Big and Beautiful city of Rio De Janeiro After we got off the plane and claimed our baggage, we boarded buses for a boarding school in Rio! Early June 17th 5 other AFS'ers and I boarded a bus for Campos. Brazil (which is about 5-hours North of Rj o Janeiro). When I arrived in Campos, my Brazilian family was waiting for me. • Now that I have lived here almost two-months, I consider Campos my home! The people here are so very warm and friendly.
